iThenticate will automatically begin to process the document and create the similarity report. This takes anywhere from a few seconds to minutes depending on length and complexity.
Once the report has completed,you’ll see the similarity score icon for that document in Report column.Clicking on that score(%)will open the report into a new window for further review.
1、Overall Similarity Score (%) - The percentage of text in this document that iThenticate found matching text in its content databases. If there are instances where the submission's content is similar to, or matches against, one or more sources, it will be flagged for review.
2、Similarity Report viewing modes - You can switch between Match Overview and All Sources view.Match Overview shows a list of the top or best matching sources which are color coded and listed from highest to lowest percentage of matching word area to the submission.
3、Matches (highlighted in the submission) & Matching Sources (listed in the right-side panel): Each set of matched text is color coded and numbered so you can easily see how the text aligns to the source it came from in the right side panel.
In Match Overview, select the colored number at the start of the highlighted text, a source box will appear on the document text showing the matching text within the context of a few outlying sentences from the repository sources.
4、Downloading the report - The Similarity Report will be downloaded in PDF version. When downloading a report, the downloaded version created is based on the current view of the Similarity Report. For example, selecting the download icon while using the default Match Overview will create a PDF with color-coded highlights.
5、Text-Only Report - The text-only report allows you to view the Similarity Report without document formatting. Click on the “Document Viewer” at the top-left corner to return.
It is available to exclude quotes, bibliography by setting ‘filters & settings’ option to recalculate the similarity.
1、Select the filters icon at the bottom of the Document Viewer sidebar.
2、Select the check-box next to the Exclude Quotes, Exclude Bibliography, Exclude Sections (optional). Or select to exclude small sources / matches below the set threshold.
3、Click on the Apply Changes button.
If you determine a matched source is not needed, you are able to remove the match to recalculate the similarity.
1、Switch to All Sources viewing mode.
2、Click Exclude sources.
3、Select 1 or 2 sources.
4、Click on the Exclude button to apply the exclusion.
1、Click on the excluded sources icon at the bottom of the sidebar.
2、Select the check-box next to the source you would like to re-include in the Similarity Report.
3、Select the Restore (#) button to include the source in the Similarity Report. To restore all of the sources that were excluded from the report select the Restore All button.
